SIAMS
What is SIAMS?
SIAMS stands for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. It is the inspection process used to evaluate how effectively a Church school lives out its foundation and how its Christian vision enables pupils and adults to flourish.
SIAMS is separate from Ofsted. It considers the way the school’s Christian vision shapes areas including:
- leadership and decision-making;
- the curriculum;
- collective worship;
- spiritual development;
- relationships and wellbeing;
- justice and responsibility; and
- religious education.
As a Church of England voluntary-aided school, the quality of religious education is also evaluated as part of our SIAMS inspection.
Our Most Recent SIAMS Inspection
Cadmore End CofE Combined School and Nursery was last inspected in March 2023 and was judged to be Good in how effectively its distinctive Christian vision enables pupils and adults to flourish.
Inspectors recognised that our Christian vision permeates the life and work of the school, creating a “safe and happy environment” and a strong, loving community in which everyone is seen as a seedling from whom great things can grow.
The report highlighted:
- the passion of leaders and governors in living out the school’s Christian vision through policies, decisions and daily practice;
- the bespoke care and support provided for pupils and families;
- exceptionally positive relationships in which differences are treated with dignity and respect;
- inclusive and invitational collective worship;
- opportunities for pupils to reflect upon Bible teachings and their relevance to daily life; and
- strong partnerships with the parish, Diocese and wider community.
Pupils described Cadmore End as “a small school but one big family.”
Continuing Our Journey
Our SIAMS inspection forms part of our continuing development as a Church school. Since the inspection, we have continued to build upon its findings by strengthening collective worship, spirituality, religious education, pupil leadership and opportunities for pupils to understand justice, responsibility and service to others.
Our Christian vision, “From Small Beginnings Come Great Things,” continues to guide our decisions and shape the care, education and opportunities we provide for every member of our school community.
